Well, for me, it's all about the hair. It's one of the easiest features to spot on your character while you're fighting, so I make sure I shop around for a cool hairstyle and then form the rest of the character around it.

I like almost all the female ele hair from Prophecies and Factions. My ele happens to be from Prophecies, but I'd need like 5 eles to have all the hairstyles I like from both campaigns. (Drools on eles)

I only liked two of the hairstyles for female mesmer in Prophecies, but liked almost all the hairstyles for them in Factions, so I definitely pick Factions for making mesmers so they have the awesomest hair.

The female necro hair is good in Prophecies and Factions, can't decide which campaign I'd rather make a necro from. I really want one from each but I don't feel like buying slots :P

I only liked one female ranger hairstyle in all three campaigns, and I hate the female ranger dance, so I made a male ranger. Prophecies is ok for male ranger hair, although you either look like Aragorn or Aidan for the most part, I liked the spiky ranger hair in Factions so that's where I made my ranger.

My favorite female warrior hair is definitely Prophecies hairstyles, hands down.

Factions definitely has the best hair options for female monks, poor male monks only look good bald from any campaign... XD

In general, the males always have pretty awful face and hair choices so I don't make them. I play with all the hair and face combinations for each gender, and from each chapter, before I make a character, that way I find the combination I really really like the most. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the non-dervish or paragon hairstyles in Nightfall, I didn't want to make any other professions start in that chapter.

Factions has the best looking female monks.

*shivers* No bun monks!!!

Male mesmers look better in Cantha, I don't want my mesmer to look like a 50 year old man!!!

Faction characters are much more of an improvement over Prophecies. Not too sure about Nightfall.

When I look at the old prophecy faces I see flat, emotionless, boring faces. Most of the nightfall faces are much more expressive and seem to have much more character then most of the prophecies faces. When it comes to design my ranking definitly goes: Nightfall > Factions > Prophecies.

That having said: I tend to switch around, just picking my favorite faces. And well, a couple of those are still from prophecies.

Warrior: Tyria for both male and female. Male warrior may be pretty ugly, but Tyrian ones look better than Canthan ones.
Ranger: Tyria for both. My ranger (tyrian) is very handsome.
Monk: Cantha. The Tyrian monks look a little...strange?
Elementalist: Tyria for males (handsome!!) and Cantha for females.
Mesmer: Cantha for males, Tyria for females
Necromancer: Err... both?

Was about to post one for Assassin, but realized they're Cantha only.

Prophecies all the way. I unfortunatly always have a tyrian character. Takes forever to go through all the campaigns ><

I couldn't agree more. The lack of depth to Tyrian faces bothers me too much. I really like my Canthan Elementalist, and I actually do like my Canthan Mesmer (she's my avatar), although there are some cute ways to design a Nightfall female mesmer.

I wish there was more variety for assassins in Cantha, though. And I love my Canthan Monk's face! She looks like Zhang Ziyi.

I think a lot of people are drawn to pretty asian girls. It's a lot harder for them to look bad. Like, something that bothers me about Nightfall ladies is that a lot of the lipsticks look trashy on light skin. Factions really sticks with a moderate but elegant look.

I will say, though... I want to see some monk hairstyles that don't have a buzzed back of the neck. That really bothers me. I could never do that to my hair. And looking at the back of my characters' heads so much, I think it matters to me what it looks like. I had to go with bald and a pretty scalp design.

Nightfall characters remind me of a nightclub or a disco. All of the makeup and glamour is a bit much for my tastes.

>.> I have two PvE Ele girls. I use the excuse that one is for air spiking and the other is strictly a nuker.

Tyrian

Tyrian female necromancers are by far the best looking characters in the game

Elona = crap - I dislike to a great degree dark skin, and sun tanned skin just as much

Cantha = booring - I was never a big fan of asian features, although some are good, although I dont think they alow pale enough skin tones to make it worth creating a character there

Edit:
By the way,

Discrimination ultimatly harms only one's self. Therefore, you must learn to hate all peoples with an equal and utmost intensity.

Yes, I do hate very nearly everyone, so those of you who take offinse to my previous comment about dark skin - I dont dislike africans anymore than anyone else - I simply do not like how they look.

I also hate the sun - even more than most people. It gives me migraine's and hurts my eyes.

I don't own Nightfall yet, so I can't really comment on it... But I think for the most part, Tyria and Cantha are about equal.

I really dislike the Tyrian monk hairstyles, so I think Cantha > Tyria is that area. I also really dislike the hair options for female Tyrian mesmers -- the faces are okay, but the hair bored me. The rest of the classes are about equal, IMO.

One exception is elementalists. I have yet to find a hair/face combo from either campaign that I really love! Are female Elonian elementalists cute? :P

I hope that someday ANet makes all of the hairstyles/faces available to all campaigns. I'd love to mix n match face/hair

This line doesn't make any sense...

Anyway, on topic, I found that I can almost always find a face or two that I really like from any chapter and profession with the only exception to paragons... I've tried nearly all the combinations but ending up deleting all of them... I'll proabably only create them for PVP usage since then I won't care about facial features as much.

Depends. One of my biggest gripes is that few faces in Prophecies and Factions was the lack of faces that looked good with very dark skin, and I love Nightfall for that. All three of my Elonian characters have dark skin, and look aboslutely stunning IMO.

I too love my Canthan Mesmer; I think she's one of my cutest characters, and she just seems to have personality to me. And I just got her some Canthan 15k and also snagged her Sunspear 1k and now her wardrobe has outgrown her inventory.

I think Nightfall gets my vote. But Factions is a close second (I think Factions wins out for males, and Nightfall for females now that I think about it more).

Also, for male warriors, Canthan warriors look more innocent, Tyria warriors look like they are veterans.
